As mentioned before (in my journaling post), there is no right way to journal. I created this list of 31 simple journal prompts to help get you started and (hopefully) demonstrate that you can write about ANYTHING. So grab a notebook (or open a new document in your word processing app) and get to it:
Basic Planning:
- List your tasks/to-dos for the day
- List your plans for the week
- List your plans for the month
- Meal-planning – what are you planning for the next few days?
- Write out your grocery list
- Write about your morning or evening routines – do you have them? What do they look like? If no, would you like to add a routine, why or why not?
Favorites:
- What is your favorite book and why?
- What is your favorite song and why?
- What is your favorite vacation or place to visit and why?
- What is your favorite movie and why?
- Who is the person you admire most and why?
Higher Level Planning:
- What does your ideal day look like?
- What is one thing you have learned this week?
- What is something you want to learn?
- What is one thing you could do each day that would help you feel more productive?
- What are your top 3 short term goals?
- What are your top 3 long term goals?
Personal:
- List your worries about the day
- List things that are keeping you up at night
- Write about any dreams you had recently
- List 2-3 great things that happened today (or yesterday)
- Write about something that upset you today (or yesterday)
- Explain a mistake you made today (or yesterday)
- What are 3 things you are grateful for today
- I couldn’t imagine living without….
Self-Love:
- Choose 3 things you love about yourself today
- What is one thing you are proud of that you have accomplished?
- Finish the sentence with something positive: I am….
- Finish the sentence with something positive: I can…
- I am happiest when….
- The best ways I can take care of myself are:
